    [Engaged] Help for earthquake victims

    Hello all,

Unfortunately, things are getting worse and worse here after the two devastating earthquakes within 24 hours. In Turkey alone, more than 13 million people were directly affected by these earthquakes. Millions of people have been on the streets for more than 48 hours. Severe winter conditions prevail in the region. And unfortunately, despite all the efforts of rescuers, tens of thousands of people are still trapped under the rubble. A real tragedy is happening in front of our eyes.

For those who have financial means and want to help, I would like to share the donation pages of some reliable Turkish organisations. They are working hard to rescue people from the buildings and to provide victims with food, clothes, heater, and water. People really need all kinds of help. Unfortunately, I have no information about the organisations in Syria. If you know of any reliable ones, please share them with us.

    Thank you all.

May all be safe and still.

Please remember that this is also a Syrian disaster. Syria, plagued by war and inaccessible due to many circumstances as I understand it, is much of a forgotten victim. How can we also Syria, too?

A Syrian friend living here in Sweden told me the other day: "Syrian blood is cheap these days".

Remember: "To save all sentient beings, though beings numberless"

Hi Gustaf, thank you so much for the link.

It is impossible for me not to remember it. After all, they are our neighbour. We are separated only by a border once imagined. But unfortunately, I know that some organizations exploit people's donations, even in such catastrophic situations. I have direct knowledge of reliable Turkish rescue teams, but even getting accurate information from Syria is difficult. That's why I didn't want to mislead anyone. The link you sent is very informative and it is possible to see some organizations focusing on helping Syrian people. If anyone knows more, please keep us informed.

In any case, since most of our Sangha members are from America & Europe, I would simply like to remind you that even a single dollar/euro is a serious amount when converted into the local currency of both countries. It may help a lot.

Here’s another organization already on the ground helping in both countries. They do amazing work, so, any donation goes where it is intended to go:

Thank you so much for posting this, Doğukan. It has been horrible to read about the unfolding situation in Turkey and Syria.

Doctors Without Borders are reporting that they are in Syria and have been able to respond because they already had teams in Syria. https://donate.doctorswithoutborders...BoCUsMQAvD_BwE

International Rescue Committee is also reporting they are in Syria. They aren’t as highly rated as Doctors Without Borders, but they are solid organization. Rescue.org

Thank you all for sharing. Every help we can provide is a fulfillment of our Bodhisattva vow to save all sentient beings. May all affected by the earthquake be safe and taken care of.
