[Engaged] Just a Little Pin

Here is a little experiment, a challenge if you will.

Can you wear a pin (badge/sticker) for a few days, or even a month. I suggest you choose a cause or a charity close to your heart, perhaps something that your friends/colleagues don't know you support. It may open up new conversations for you, so be prepared. Please avoid anything supporting any political factions or anything illegal in your country.

If you take part, please can you post a photo of you wearing your pin, and a brief note of what this means to you?

I will wear two this month, both that I very much believe in. A "hospice volunteer" pin much like this (even though it won't mean much to Japanese folks, and the hospice idea is just catching on here) ...

I will wear them on my Rakusu this month (the Japanese add pins and name tags sometimes to their Rakusus, by the way, for various things. I will clip instead of pin I think ... ) ...

Flower Power. I have added a daisy pin to my hat. The daisy has been a symbol of peace since the 1960s.

Also wearing a safety pin on my Chaplain's jacket. Wearing a safety pin is a recognised message to all LGBTQQIAAP+ people that they are safe with me. Safe to be themselves. Safe from judgement and discrimination.

I hope any pins posted here will inspire others to wear theirs. It doesn't have to be the same cause, the same meaning, just something that you are passionate about yourself. Something that may open new conversations for you.

Because of events this week, I have added a simple "peace sign" pin.

[Tenryu]

I’ve put peace sign pins on several of my jackets and hoodies. I also wear a peace sign on the rakusu, along with a pin from the seal sanctuary in Friedrichskoog—a place I visited often as a child and teenager. It deeply shaped my love for the sea and its inhabitants, and helped me understand the importance of protecting this habitat, which ultimately concerns all of us.
