In her wonderful book Green Buddhism, Stephanie Kaza presents the following version of the ten grave precepts viewed from a Green perspective, which I find interesting to reflect on:
1. Knowing how deeply our lives intertwine
We vow not to kill.
2. Knowing how deeply our lives intertwine
We vow not to take what is not given.
3. Knowing how deeply our lives intertwine
We vow not to engage in abusive relationships.
4. Knowing how deeply our lives intertwine
We vow not to speak falsely or deceptively.
5. Knowing how deeply our lives intertwine
We vow not to harm self or others through poisonous thought or substance.
6. Knowing how deeply our lives intertwine
We vow not to dwell on past errors.
7. Knowing how deeply our lives intertwine
We vow not to speak of self separate from others.
8. Knowing how deeply our lives intertwine
We vow not to possess any thing or form of life selfishly.
9. Knowing how deeply our lives intertwine
We vow not to harbour ill will toward any plant, animal or human being.
10. Knowing how deeply our lives intertwine
We vow not to abuse the great truth of the Three Treasures.
