Ecodharma: recycled energy improves life for Rwandan refugees (article)

    Another good news article!

In this case, solar-powered street lighting and solar power for individual homes has improved both the safety and quality of life in three refugee camps in Rwanda as part of an initiative called Renewable Energy for Refugees. Refugees can now have light in their homes, without the danger of naked flames, and even charge mobile phones.

Street lighting has greatly improved safety in the camps, especially for women and children, and also reduced the amount of theft.

Human beings have such potential to improve the lives of other sentient beings, including other humans, and this is a reminder of how we can use technology for good.
