Thank you for the update. I was wondering if there was going to be a posting about the next reading.

I am enjoying reading the book although it is not at all cheery. I am glad Loy isn’t holding back with his assessment of where we really are.

I agree, Tairin. It would be hard to write a book like this that is upbeat but there must be a temptation to soften it a little to avoid turning people off. I am glad that Loy chose not to do that.

I read this book a while ago, but while the author shows us the bleak state of affairs at the beginning, he later on gives the reader a way to see things in a helpful way.
I would not necessarily use the word hope here. (After all, the situation is still bleak and the future does not look bright at all.)
However, this whole topic used to depress me a lot, but at least Loy's book helped me to deal with things in a productive way.
