Wonderful! I love Genjo Koan. (And Zen Master's Dance).

We have so much going on now, let me consider it.Looking at the forum, book clubs intermittently come together with sangha members picking their way through Okamura Roshi’s Realizing Genjokoan. There are a few closed threads with legacy teachings offered by Jundo that we could use as a kind of syllabus. Would anybody have an interest in another loop?

Our next monthly Zazenkai series, beginning Friday/Saturday July 7th-8th, will be going through Genjo Koan again, which will continue through the coming few months. We will be using the chapter on Genjo from my book, Zen Master's Dance. Maybe we can do something around that.

I read but did not understand. Our Zendo is helping me begingn to understand I return to books, this book, I did not finish. There is so much to learn! Where do I begin. I feel like I have been dragging my feet in the mud of the river, and there exists for all the open sea. I will make the effort. I understand.

Also, in case anyone missed it, all of the threads for this reading of Realizing Genjokoan are now in this single thread.

There were a couple of last sections that were crammed in before Ango, so that people could elect to get them done, or they could wait until after Ango. How they could put off that cliffhanger, I know not. Either way... yes! Time to finish. Kaisui or anyone else wrapping up this great text, if I can help, let me know.

My understanding is that you all finished the book together here, is that correct? If not, you should finish! For those of us who have been part of this reading group and put it on hold for Ango, I thought I should post that I have been reading through Chapter 11 recently and finding it very rewarding - thanks again to Nengei for giving us prompt questions for when we get to the final chapters. I'm planning to post in the near future, so I'd be happy to be joined by others thinking of doing the same
I've been doing this reading quite slowly alongside other reading groups that are happening here (Zen Masters Dance, Ecodharma).

Hello Talib,
I wasn't part of this reading group, but I think it arrived already at a point near the end of the book and is 'on hold' because of the Ango and Jukai season.
Please have a look some postings further up in this thread.

Thank you, Jundo and Charity. I'm also for waiting until after Ango and Jukai. It just seems less complicated that way.

Thanks Jundo. My preference is to wait until after Ango and Jukai, because I am doing other reading during this time, but if others are interested I will join in with them and chime in when I can.
If we do go off-forum, though, it might still be a good idea to bring the discussion back here to the forum after Ango so that anyone who didn't join off-forum can see the discussion when they pick it up again, and so Nengei can see how people have responded as well.

Charity

Hi Guys,
We had some folks come to us interested in getting together for an informal reading group regarding Uchiyama Roshi's "Instructions for the Cook." Because we do not want too much going on in the forum, I suggested that they could get together off the forum, among themselves by email or PM etc., for their discussions (it is a really small group).
Maybe you guys could do the same, if you want to go ahead among yourselves? Or you can wait until after Ango and Jukai.
Gassho, Jundo
