ICQ, Yahoo Messenger, Skype and Google Talk are all defunct. Would it be possible to replace these with supported apps such as Google Chat, WhatsApp, Microsoft Teams, and Slack?
All four messaging apps obsolete

What do you mean? We don't use any of these officially for our sangha. We use Zoom for all live meetings and the forum for sangha discussions. What specifically do you need?

Ah, I see. On the profile page there is a dropdown for those four messaging services. I attempted to fill it out and discovered that my old Skype account was no longer valid as Microsoft had terminated that service. Then I discovered that the other three were also defunct. But if Zoom is all that is used it’s a moot point. I’m quite comfortable with Zoom.

It looks like that’s some legacy stuff in the forum software. That’s only if you want to put links for people to contact you directly, the sangha doesn’t use that information. They said, it probably should be removed or updated.

Ryumon is old legacy stuff too, but we keep him around!

Hello,
unfortunately those settings are not controlled via the thousands of configuration options of the forum software any more.
They have been in the past but with the recent versions, they decided to hard-code them for "backwards compatibility".
I have not edited the templates for editing and displaying them yet, which would be a way to make them disappear - trying to keep code changes as few as possible for less time and work consuming future software and style updates.
Hmm... Maybe worth doing it anyways and live with the added complexity.

I did a quick search, and fount a post on the Vbulletin forum from 2012 that said you can just comment out the lines with that stuff. There's probably little risk to that, though if you don't do anything, most people won't notice.Hello,

Yes, in a few places where folks can enter it (profile editing / new member entry) and deleting the entries folks made from the database, so it is not displayed any more.
In prior versions of vbulletin you could set a config variable and it didn't display any more.
With editing / commenting out in the templates, it is just one more thing to keep in mind with the next update, as those will maybe override it.

Hello,
I finally arrived at this part of my to-do list.
I believe I have successfully removed those outdated entries from the templates of the profile "about" and it's corresponding editing pages.
Please let me know if you still notice them around somewhere.

I don't see them any more. But I don't remember where they were in the profile settings. :-)Hello,
