Zoom recordings on YouTube

Is it possible to joing meetings on Zoom but not be recorded or displayed on YouTube? I have no issues what so ever with you guys seeing my face but I have issues with YouTube owning my face and/or voice since they use everything on there for AI training now. So now I watch the livestreams but I would rather join on Zoom.

Hi, Judith. A completely valid concern, which I fully understand. Live streaming to YouTube helps us make these events available to everyone who might not be able to join live or who isn´t comfortable with joining on Zoom and they would rather join in via livestream. The option you have is to maybe join Zoom with the camera off, or join with it on for a bit, until we start the stream, and then turn it off if you don´t want your face visible.

If you're there, ask me and I'll let you know when I do it. Usually, I start it 3 or 4 minutes before the hour.

I like sitting together with you lot because it helps me feeling connected with the zendo but I have some fear regarding privacy etc. I need time.

Oh, so outside of special events and Zazenkai, we don't record or stream. to YouTube, so you can join all the sits with no fear!

When the recording starts, zoom plays an artificial sounding female voice saying, “recording in progress.“. This said, if the recording has already started before you join, you won’t hear that. However, a messge is is displayed at the top of the window while the recording is in progress.

Yes, that´s right, but the recording is not the issue for Judith. It is the streaming. The streaming message is there as soon as I send the Zoom to YouTube, regardless of whether I´ve actually started the stream on YouTube or not, so it does not accurately reflect whether the video is or isn´t available on YouTube. The recording is only on the cloud, within our Zoom account, and I usually start it after I start the YouTube stream.
