I am going to bump this essay from last year.

Please read it, especially if you think that there are "obstacles" the keep you from Jukai or Ango.

I love this esssy! I’m reminded of something Renshin Judy Bunce, a SF Zen Center teacher once said (of something different in practice, but I think it works here, too): “You learn how do ‘do it right’ by ‘doing it wrong.’”

Thank you Jundo! Great reminder to be gentle with ourselves when we stumble. (I was a little hard on myself for missing evening zen last night due to my body being in pain from me thinking I’m still in my 20s, and hiking accordingly!)
I’m reminded of a line from the movie “Batman Begins”:
“Why do we fall master Bruce?”
“ To pick ourselves back up again…”

Thank you Jundo, I like your framing of Ango, makes sense to me. Go easy folks.
Am keen to begin the Rakusu, where might I find a pattern and recommendations for suitable material?
