    July 7th recommended threads

I encourage looking at these threads, topics and posts today ...

It is that time ... ... Treeleaf Global Service Days: July 6-20 2013 ... We are counting on all our members! ...

Taigu and Jundo having a Dharma-slam on Hongzhi ... Guidepost of Silent Illumination, another take ...
A few years ago, Jundo wrote beautiful and profound jazzy lines inspired by the words of Wanshi Zenji translated by the excellent Taigen Leighton. You will find them clicking on the link below: http://www.treeleaf.org/forums/showthread.php?8960-Hongzhi-s-Guidepost-of-Silent-Illumination&highlight=Guidepost As a reminder

PLEASE BE THIS KIND OF 'QUITTER'! ... I Quit ...
My meditation practice has been nothing more than sitting with a racing mind. I have little time to read Zen book or study Buddhism. I have a library of Buddhist books on my bookshelf that are half read. I sat down one evening, early this week, and felt frustrated. Zen is supposedly a simple way to live. But my mind wants

It is still a good time to sit our "2-Day Live 'At Home' Retreat" ...
Hi all I imagine this has been asked before so please feel free to direct me to older threads dealing with the same topic. My kids are away with their mother for a week in August (at a Theravadin family camp incidentally) and I would like to take the time to do a five day (probably) at home Sesshin. I have done at home

Oh, and thank you once again to Mongen for your visit to Treeleaf Tsukuba ... please sit our July 6-7th, 2013 'Not-Two Part' HAN-ZENKAI!! ...
Hi Everyone, Our HANS (Mongen) is VISITING TREELEAF TSUKUBA, here in Japan, this weekend. Because of his visit (plus the fact that I have a local person who wishes to attend the first time, and that my wife is away and I will have my daughter Sada in my care most of the weekend) our Monthly Zazenkai this time will be divided

Thank you for always keeping up with these Jundo. It helps a transient like me re-center after a spell away.

I couldn't agree more! Especially with me being at an intensive, 6 week music camp! It's great for tying in the whole of all the thread and keep my practice in mind.

Look upon the world as a bubble,
      regard it as a mirage;
      who thus perceives the world,
him Mara, the king of death, does not see.

Here is a special addendum to our recommended threads ...

Please make sure that all understand that "non-seeking" is not simply a question of seeking or not seeking. One may seek, yet not seek! The Buddha diligently seeks food for his bowl and the bowls of all sentient beings ... yet has nothing to seek, no lack. All at Once As One, Not Two.

To not pierce this point is the greatest confusion about Shikantaza ... about Zen ... about Buddhist Teachings ... bar none. No foolin'.

"Most of the trouble of the world comes from people trying to get something they do not have but think will make them happy, or trying to get rid of something they think prevents them from being happy. Can we just be content with this situation? Can we appreciate and respect ourselves and the world enough to be as we
