Searching for Free Resources

I've already mentioned in other posts about my rural location and lack of travel, but I also find myself, like many others these days , lacking spending power. I've glanced through the discussions on preparing for jukai and precepts study, and although I won't be participating in any ceremonies any time soon, I would like to take advantage of any study material that may be available. I've also glanced through the book discussions, and I'm letting go of my envy for those who can buy literature more easily :mrgreen:

Does anyone have any suggestions or links to free online study material? I'd noticed that eSangha has a variety, yet I'm not sure I'll be welcomed back warmly...

Thanks everyone, your help is deeply appreciated. I wasn't sure about how much free literature is on the internet, and thought I'd just ask. I'm not looking for anything in particular, just general literature that will help me understand the teachings from a Soto perspective. Again, thank you kindly.

I don't know where you live but how about using your local library? I work as a librarian and all libraries have access to almost any book and article you are looking for.

I would second about the library, and also this resource for super cheap used books. Many of the books on our "Suggested Book List" should be available both ways.

Thank you zenmommy and Jundo. We have no library locally, so I'd have to travel fifteen or twenty miles to get to the nearest one. When I say travel is limited, I'm not kidding. Due to an auto accident back in the fall (not at fault, thank goodness...), we only have one vehicle. It's a good thing my wife and I work different shifts, or we'd really be in deep doodoo.

I appreciate the link for cheap books, but even that may be beyond me for now. I'm going to spend some time reading as much as possible online. Thanks again for responding

Just so people know, most of the talks there (not all) by Gil and others are actually talks on Vipassana practice despite the name of the webcast. Nothing wrong with that at all, but a somewhat different approach from Zen ... same but different.
