Hello all,

Due to the ongoing shutdown of the US government, most state's SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) is not providing any funds or assistance to those in need as of November 1st.

This is creating, right before US Thanksgiving, a hunger and food insecurity crisis. In my city, for example, food bank lines are already longer now than they were at the height of the pandemic.

Local food banks have also told me that donating money goes a lot further than donating food from retail stores, as they have agreements in place with food providers to buy in-bulk at cheaper rates.

If you have the ability, please consider donating (money, time, or food) to a local (or nationwide) food bank nonprofit that can assist those who need it most. As someone who faced food insecurity for most of my life, the idea of helping anyone avoid going hungry, especially children, is close to my heart of importance.
